NJMTA will award two scholarships, each for $2,000:
- to a student who will be pursuing Music Performance as a major
- to a student who will be pursuing Music Education/Pedagogy as a major
The Performance winner will perform at the NJMTA State Conference on November 11, 2018, at 9:00 AM, and the Music Education/Pedagogy winner will read his/her essay. If there is more than one winner in either category, then the award will be shared. An alternate may be designated in each category if the performances warrant such an award.
The judges reserve the right to withhold either or both awards if the standard of either the repertoire or the performance is below that of college entrance level for a music major.
How to Enter:
Teachers are to complete the online HSS Competition entry form on the NJMTA website.
Please make sure to fill out the following sections:
Instrument: Indicate intended college major; Performance major or Music Education/Pedagogy major.
Complete the repertoire requirements.
Please also check in the appropriate section any other NJMTA/MTNA competition in which the applicant will be participating on that date.
Be sure to include keys, opus numbers, and ALL other requested information.
Only online forms through the NJMTA website will be accepted. Under no circumstances must there be any correspondence directly between the student and chairperson.
