The 2017-18 New Jersey all-state solo for flute is Paul Hindemith's Sonata for Flute and Piano.

Each of NJ’s three regions assigns its own repertoire for middle school honor band auditions. This year’s solos include “Andalouse” by E. Pessard (SJBODA), "Scherzino" by J. Andersen (CJMEA) and Sonata in F Major, Mvts. 1 & 2 by J.C. Pepusch (NJSMA)

Four to six students will be selected to perform in this session.  The four members of the Lyra Ensemble will speak on ways to prepare these pieces for auditions and will take turns working with master class performers individually.

Students are welcome to bring their own accompanists, or may hire the staff accompanist for a rehearsal and the class (additional fee).
