The following Board decision effects immediately: ONLY TEACHERS CAN CONTACT THE CHAIRPERSONS OR THE NJMTA OFFICERS. Should the parent contact any of the NJMTA chairpersons or officers will disqualify his/her child/children from all the NJMTA sponsored competitions and auditions in the whole year.

New Jersey Composer Commission Competition

Each year, NJMTA commissions a NJ composer to write three pieces for this competition.  Copies of scores will be available at the Spring Recitals, or by mail. To purchase scores, contact the chairperson after June 1.

Winners:

The winner(s) will be chosen and will perform at the New Jersey Music Teachers Association State Conference, November 20-21, 2010. Teachers will be notified as to the exact time for the performance.

 

 

How to Enter:

Teachers must complete the competition entry form located in the “Registration Entry and Trophy Award Forms” section of the book.  Indicate “NJCC” in the Age & Event column.  Include the name of the piece and all other requested information on the entry form.  Send one check and entry form to:

Fee:     

$30 entry fee for solo performances, $20 for each performer in an ensemble, payable to “NJMTA Competition.” Fees are non refundable.

Memorization is required for all solo pieces. Memorization is optional for Duet and Ensemble pieces.

 

A piano student can only enter in one level (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced) in the piano solo category but is allowed to enter in another category such as piano duet or piano with flute/clarinet.

Only students can enter the competition. No adult professional accompanists are allowed.

Separate application fees must be paid for each category.
