NJMTA 2009 Children Helping Children Performathon Report
The NJMTA Children Helping Children Performathon was once again a huge success!
I want to thank all who participated in the 2009 NJMTA Children Helping Children Performathon. This year there were 27 teachers and 150 students involved in 10 concerts – 5 concerts on February 7 th in Bristol Chapel and 5 concerts on February 8 th in Williamson Hall.
I want to thank Westminster Choir College for providing the facilities to assist in the success.
Both Bristol Chapel and Williamson Hall offered the students, teachers, and families an ideal atmosphere and location. I am asking Westminster Choir College to consider continuing their generous practice of donating the space of these two venues for the February 2010 Performathon.
To date, we have presented $6,026.50 to the Ronald McDonald House of New Brunswick, $1,000.00 to the Ronald McDonald House of Long Branch, and $1,341.00 to the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey. The grand total is $8,367.50. Considering our economic times, this is remarkable.
In addition to the Performathon concerts, Elena Benedict’s students collected donations for the Ronald McDonald Houses at their studio recital. Thank you Elena!
This year, more than any other year, I have received many notes, letters, and emails from parents and teachers thanking me for holding the event. Clearly, the Performathon is touching a wide range of people.
The Children Helping Children Performathon has become an exciting and rewarding experience for many of us in New Jersey.
I thank the NJMTA Board for supporting this event. New Jersey has become a leader in Community Outreach. Let’s try to keep it going.
